Bergenia ‘Beethoven’

Raised from a batch of B. stracheyi seedlings by Eric Smith, who named it after one of his favourite composers in 1972 after some arm twisting by Jim Archibald. Highly attractive, strap-like, dark green leaves that turn a reddish bronze with age. Large, dense clusters of white flowers appear in late spring, changing to a candy floss pink as they mature.
