Bergenia ciliata Dixter form

A unique and highly unusual form of B. ciliata found at Great Dixter. It has large, hairy leaves with a distinctly pointed apex and undulating margin that is reminiscent of B. pacumbis than the more traditional rounded leaf shape of B. ciliata. Unlike the former which is typically glabrous on both the upper and lower leaf surface, this form has soft hairs on both leaf lamina, the margin and even the petiole. It may be B. ciliata 'Wilton'.

Growing to an impressive size in the right conditions, this makes an exceptional specimen plant and is ideally suited to a container. Not available in trade but cuttings may be available upon request from Fergus and team at Great Dixter.
