Bergenia cordifolia ‘Lunar Glow’
An interesting mutation discovered in Bergenia 'Solar Flare' from Terra Nova Nurseries in the US. It has similar leaves to B. 'Rotblum', upright, ovate, leathery, spoon-shaped and dark green, turning burgundy red in winter. New leaves open creamy-yellow in spring, fading to a yellow-green in summer. In spring, dark pink flowers open from red calyces atop red, branching stems.
Quite rare in cultivation nowadays but can be found from specialist nurseries. A plant under this name from Larch Cottage Nurseries is yet to show its distinctive spring leaf colour. It may not be stable variation.
