Bergenia crassifolia ‘Autumn Red’

An attractive but sadly often overlooked cultivar with smooth, leathery, bright green, upright, spoon shaped leaves that turn a vivid red in the autumn. Its vigorous habit and crowded foliage makes it an excellent choice ground cover. In spring, tall, pink-red stems carry dense heads of drooping, soft pink flowers.

Unfortunately, not common in trade nowadays but can be found for sale from Beth Chatto Plants and Gardens.
