Bergenia ‘Angel Kiss’
A new addition to the Dragonfly Series, this US introduction from Terra Nova Nurseries has compact, strap-like, dark green foliage that turns a rich, dark red wine colour in winter. Its finest feature is the semi-double, white flowers blushed soft pink with a dark centre in spring which open in tight clusters atop branching green-pink stems.
Available from specialist plant nurseries and occasionally found in garden centres.
Bergenia ‘Pink Dragonfly’
A superb new selection from Terra Nova Nursery with strongly upright, narrow, dark green leaves that have a coarsely ciliate margin and light green contrasting veins. In winter, the leaves turn a deep wine red with contrasting pink veins. One of the finest cultivars for its striking coral pink flowers that open in drooping clusters atop tall, branching red stems in spring.

Bergenia ‘Sakura’
A truly compact cultivar with elegant, strap-like, dark green foliage that turns a deep dark purple-red in winter. Its highly attractive semi-double pink flowers are reminiscent of cherry blossom, emerging from dark red calyces atop branching, pink-red stems, held well above the foliage, in spring.
Unfortunately not commonly sold in the UK but it can be found from specialist nurseries and occasionally in garden centres.
