Bergenia ‘Margery Fish’

A superb large leaved cross between B. 'Ballawley' and B. ciliata by H.C. Pugsley. Its large, glossy, dark green leaves have some winter colour and provide evergreen interest throughout the year. In spring, deep rose-red flowers appear on elegant branching stems held well above the foliage.

It was named by Pugsley in honour of the great plantswoman Margery Fish, who loved bergenias. Although not common nowadays, you can find it for sale from Beth Chatto Plants and Gardens.
