Bergenia ‘Oeschberg’
An exceptional, often underrated, cultivar introduced by W. Meier and named after the Swiss Horticultural School Oeschberg. It has upright, round, ovate, dark green leaves which are thick, leathery and smooth, turning a rich purple-red in winter. A superb border edge plant for its quietly creeping nature. Tall, branching stems bearing clusters of soft pink drooping flowers held in liver red calyces appear in late spring. A great choice for gardens prone to late frost.
Unfortunately not commonly available nowadays in the UK. Although it can be found growing in gardens and specialist collections.
