Bergenia ‘Pugsley’s Purple’
A much rarer and lesser known Pugsley introduction which is said to be a vigorous but shy flowering cultivar. Its flowers open in late spring and are described as being carmine to magenta in colour. It was believed to be lost in cultivation until a clump was found growing under this name on the edge of Battleston Hill at RHS Wisley in 2022.
No longer available for sale in trade. Any information regarding its origin and where it might also be found growing would be welcome.
