Bergenia ‘Rosi Klose’

A very fine flowering selection raised in 1982 by Heinz Klose and named after his wife Rosa Klose. It produces a mat of smooth, leathery, dark green leaves with contrasting veins, denticulate margin and a short, strong pink petiole. A good spreader. The real highlight is the unusual salmon pink flowers held in perfect red calyces atop short, branching, red stems that open in late spring.

Sadly, many of the Bergenia raised by Klose have been lost in cultivation but 'Rosi Klose' remains a firm favourite and can be found in specialist nurseries. There is also a very rare compact sport of this plant called 'Rosi Ruffles'.
