Bergenia ‘Rotblum’

An old reliable cultivar grown for its large, leathery, rounded and glossy bright green leaves that turn a deep burgundy-red in winter. Generally clump forming and not overly vigorous. In spring, masses of petite pink red, upright, flowers open from pink-green calyces atop tall branching stems.

A good choice for its winter interest but there are better cultivars. It can be found in garden centres but is rarely distributed today. Some sources claim that it is also sold under the name B. 'Red Beauty' and B. 'Red Start'.
