Bergenia scopulosa T.P. Wang
A Chinese species found growing in forests and sunny rock crevices in the Qinling Mountains in S. Shaanxi at 1100-3500m. It was described by T.P. Wang in 1974. Wang noted the species has an orbicular or broadly ovate to broadly elliptic leaf shape that is glabrous on the leaf surface. Population genomic analysis based on chloroplast genomes has found 'a significant degree of intraspecific differentiation' in the species and identified two separate genetic lineages in the east and west groups of the Qinling Mountains.
The species is endangered in the wild due to low seed germination rate and human related habitat destruction. It has not entered cultivation in the west and there are few photos available online or in literature.
