Bergenia ‘Snowblush Hybrids’
A selected strain bred from B. stracheyi Alba Group by The Plantsmen (Eric Smith and Jim Archibald) in 1974. Originally sold under the rather verbose name B. stracheyi Hybrids 'White Strain', it was later listed by Jim as B. 'Snowblush Strain' and is now known as 'Snowblush Hybrids'. The fairly even selections from B. stracheyi Alba Group sold under this name have dark, shiny, evergreen strap-like leaves with a coarsely ciliate margin and an attractive clump forming habit.
Clusters of pure white flowers appear in spring and age to a variety of delicate apple pink shades. This is a slow, steady grower with superb foliage and much improved flowers.
Unfortunately, it is no longer for sale nowadays but it can be found in specialist collections.
